"UX" or "user experience": these terms have their roots in computer usability, but have since made their way into public lexicon and are now applied to a multitude of other domains, including design.
It's a question of empathy for users, of being able to put yourself in their place. It's an approach that should be embraced by all architects and designers. A well-though out layout can be a source of quality of life, and therefore of motivation and cretivity. In other words, it's a tool for productivity.
